NAME
nroff - emulate nroff command with groff
SYNOPSIS
nnrrooffff [ -CCcchhiippSSttUUvv ] [ -ddcs ] [ -mmname ] [ -nnnum ] [ -oolist ] [ -rrcn ]
[ -TTname ] [ file ... ]
DESCRIPTION
The nnrrooffff script emulates the nnrrooffff command using groff. Only aasscciiii,llaattiinn11, uuttff88, and ccpp11004477 are valid arguments for the -TT option, select-
ing the output encoding emitted by ggrroottttyy, groff's TTY output device. If an invalid or no -TT option is given, nnrrooffff checks the current locale
to select a default output device. It first tries the llooccaallee program, then the environment variables LLCCAALLLL, LLCCCCTTYYPPEE, and LLAANNGG, and finally the LLEESSSSCCHHAARRSSEETT environment variable. The -hh and -cc options are equivalent to ggrroottttyy's options -hh (using tabs
in the output) and -cc (using the old output scheme instead of SGR
escape sequences). The -dd, -CC, -ii, -mm, -nn, -oo, and -rr options have the
effect described in ttrrooffff(1). In addition, nnrrooffff silently ignores theoptions -ee, -qq, and -ss (which are not implemented in ttrrooffff). Options
-pp (pic), -tt (tbl), -SS (safer), and -UU (unsafe) are passed to ggrrooffff.
-vv shows the version number.
ENVIRONMENT GGRROOFFFFBBIINNPPAATTHH A colon separated list of directories in which to search for the ggrrooffff executable before searching in PATH. If unset, `/usr/bin' is used. NNOOTTEESSThis shell script is basically intended for use with mmaann(1), so warn-
ings are suppressed. nroff-style character definitions (in the file
tty-char.tmac) are also loaded to emulate unrepresentable glyphs.
